Janice B. Hagglund of Woodhaven Drive in Jamestown, formerly Lakewood, NY, was called to her heavenly home at UPMC Chautauqua on her 93rd birthday, Thursday October 29, 2020.
She lived in Ross Mills, NY on October 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Raymond and Vivian Huckleberry Peterson.
Janice graduated from the Falconer Central School in 1945.
Before retiring, she worked for six years in the former Jamesway Store, 14 years in the Lutheran Book Store and later three years in the Ames Department Store.
She was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she served on many boards and committees over the years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed making word search puzzles, adult coloring books, crocheting and reading.
Her three children survive; Dianne Shaw, Stephen (Valerie) Hagglund, both of Jamestown, and Karin (Richard) Newton of Coweta, Okla .; nine grandchildren; Traci (Michael) Stevenson, Kendra Shaw, Denise (Michael) Felder, Ingrid Hagglund, Eric (Beth) Hagglund, Nicholas (Sheila) Hagglund, Chad (Kimber) Newton, Ryan (Karli) Newton, and Jana Newton; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Kenneth Peterson from New York and Stanley Peterson from Colorado.
Her husband Ture H. Hagglund, whom she married on September 20, 1947 and who died on August 14, 2001, died next to her parents. three brothers: Victor, Lloyd, and Richard Peterson; and a sister, Carol Fox.
The funeral will take place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church. Retired pastor, Rev. Daniel Cook, will serve. The funeral will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family receives their friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lind Funeral Home, where social distancing is observed and masks must be worn in the funeral home. The family will also meet friends at church an hour before the Monday service.
