Governor Andrew M. Cuomo released an update on Friday on the state’s progress on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“The experts told us that infection rates would rise in the fall and we have seen cases rise again across the country,” Cuomo said in a statement on Friday.

In New York, he said, health officials are tracking micro-clusters of Covid-19 outbreaks across the state, which is the state’s strategy to fight the virus.

“Our progress is thanks to the New Yorkers who took this opportunity and came together like no other community. To protect this progress, we must all continue this fine work of wearing our masks, washing our hands and being social to stay aloof, “said Cuomo.

The governor said the positive test rate across all focus areas is 2.31 percent under the state’s microcluster strategy. Outside the focus zone areas it is 0.98 percent. Within the focus areas, 18,563 test results were reported on Thursday, giving 428 positive results.

In the rest of the state, 122,945 test results were reported excluding these priority areas, producing 1,209 positive results.

The vast majority of these microclusters are in New York City and other parts of the state, according to test results on Thursday.
