New York Daily News | Kristie Ackert: Aaron Hicks reported that he felt healthy and 100% healthy for the first time since Tommy John had surgery more than a year ago. The Yankees’ most underrated player, Hicks is counted to regain some of his defensive value that seemed to be wearing off a bit in 2020. In between and the Yankees’ love of putting him in the three-point lineup, his stated goal of 30 home runs would be a welcome rebound from last season.
Sports illustrated | Max Goodman: In terms of Yankee outfielder, Mike Tauchman had a far more disappointing campaign than Hicks last year and struggled to look offensive. After Yankee manager Aaron Boone faced the game-time equalization between Clint Frazier, Hicks, Tauchman and Brett Gardner, he reaffirmed his belief in Tauchman. This is Tauchman’s last best chance to stay with the Yankees, and he’s a guy in need of a big spring.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Gleyber Torres heard your criticism. The Yankee Shortstop agreed with Brian Cashman’s widely publicized criticism of his conditioning over the past year, noting the challenges he felt navigating a pandemic closed world. Torres earned praise for his work ethic at the start of Camp 2021 and with the start of his shortstop job he will get all the chances he needs to prove critics wrong.
