Optimistic coronavirus circumstances hovering round 1 p.c total in New York State

ALBANY, NY (WSYR-TV) – On Wednesday, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said the positive coronavirus infection rate across the state is just over 1%. However, in the hotspots that include Rockland and Orange counties, that percentage is 6.2%.

“We call 6.2% a ‘red zone’, but in many states it is lower than the national infection rate in other states,” said Cuomo.

Elsewhere in New York, the national average excluding hotspots is 0.95%.

The test positivity rate in the “red zone” focus areas is 6.2%.

The nationwide positivity rate without red zones is 0.95%.

We continue to take decisive action to respond to these outbreaks and stop the spread. Mask Up.

While speaking with the media, Cuomo announced that the music group The Chainsmokers will be fined for a concert this summer. The city of Southampton, where the event took place, also has some ramifications. The city cannot grant permits for outdoor gatherings without prior approval from the state.

NEW: An investigation into the Chainsmokers concert in the Hamptons this summer has fined organizers $ 20,000 for violating public health law.

Additionally, the City of Southampton cannot approve group meeting permits without government approval.
